Wednesday 19th Jan 2005
It was an early rise to catch the tide this morning. The organiser knocked on the cabin side, he was worried nobody was aboard and was trying to work out what he would do with the boat!
On the two mile trip to the lock I opened up the throttle fully, and using my GPS receiver measured 5.7mph which I’m quite pleased with. Before spending loads of money on the engine I only managed 4.7mph at full speed.
We entered onto the tide way after paying our £15 fee (not entirely sure what it was for exactly, but it was cheap enough). The tide was already starting to drop at 7am, even though high water was suppose to be 8am, and it was flowing quite well by the time we reached the tidal barrier.
The convoy pushed up bow creek, this time there was more light, so I could take some good pictures. It was interesting seeing the creek from the Docklands Light Railway at low tide – even the ducks could walk across from one side to the other!
